Lorraine is a qualified counsellor and accredited member of the BACP. Prior to qualifying as a counsellor Lorraine worked in both the corporate business and voluntary sector.
Lorraine specialises in supporting clients experiencing stress and anxiety in both work and in relationships. She is able to support clients in a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental way to help achieve emotional well-being , identify coping strategies and improved self- worth.
She is also a qualified supervisor.
Lorraine offers supervision to both qualified counsellors and counsellors in training.
Her supervision style encompasses her integrative approach to counselling. This is primary using a compassionate approach to CBT and Psychodynamic principles but aspects of other models are used including TA and Solution Focused therapy, which may be particularly helpful for shorter term work. The key focus is supporting counsellors in their work to grow professionally, receive support including ethical issues and provide a space to reflect on client work and needs.
Lorraine also manage a counselling service which enables her to have a broad experience and exposure to a range of counselling issues.
Lorraine has a post graduate diploma in supervision and would be happy to discuss your supervision needs and preferences. Generally she would suggest an initial telephone conversation and then a face to face meeting in order to learn more about each other and how you may work together.
As with counselling it is the strength of the supervisory relationship which will predominantly determine its success rather than the particular model of therapy although an understanding and respect of our respective approaches is important.
